new year resolutions

I think I will start this now. Yes before the clock ticks over to 2012, I am going to start getting organised.
Ok, here goes, what the, every time i hit the enter key this thing keeps just blinking away in the same spot, grr
Ok now where was i? Oh yeah,
1. Stop procrastinating. grr, this is really annoying, enter you stupid machine, today,
2. Start getting organsised. Oh i said that already, um let me see, i should be doing something, oh i know
3. Write purposeful posts, not just fluff that is eye candy, well its nice to look at pretty pictures all day, I must      admit, and i know of a couple of really well followed blogs that do just that, all smoke and mirrors, but i         guess thats what people like, not me, nooo...
4. Hmm, the grout looks grotty in this room, i should clean that, oh and i need to clean the kitchen cabinets, but i did spray the weeds yesterday, my god they have gone bonkers, hubby is not great at using the sprayer, he eyes it with disdain and stubbornly insists on hand weeding. The whole 5 acres. Seriously, the man is crazy. I need to find a gardener who doesnt charge the earth, i could pay in dirt actually, 5 acres of it. Now that would solve the weeding.
Now i found these amazing photographs by a gent on flicker, i couldnt stop looking at them, this is way more fun than weeding, or cleaning, i hope you like them too, real eye candy..did i just say that?

Following photos are by steve wall, his macro shots are stunning, little droplets of joy.

And just something nature provided for a laugh...

happy new year!

FNSI

I am trying to finish two quilts before the end of this year, one top done and another one almost finished with the freemotion quilting, which is fun ! I am getting better at it slowly !

I also found these lovely christmas thingys on this site at Frugal Living, I will have a go at the table runner, I tried some of the decorative stitches on my bertie, they will be just the thing, and will be tarting up the wreath!

Happy Sewing everyone, and thank you to Heidi for hosting again,

stars in my eyes

i think that's what i will call this quilt now that i have finally finished the top, it has taken me practically all year to get this far!
I will add a red and blue border to finish it off, hopefully before next year!

On another note I found a wonderful blog that struck a familiar chord with my own love of wondering around  the snowy mountains here in Oz.
Tom Ryan has written about his adventures with his little friend Atticus, which  I have not read as yet, but will be searching for this to read. You can find them at The Adventures of Tom and Atticus.
I love his page as it looks like mine !

Silly Jokes

Theres a Russian, a Cuban, an Englishman and a Pakistani on a train, the Russian takes out a bottle of his best vodka, drinks a bit and throws the rest off the train and says 'theres plenty more of that where i come from'.
The others are impressed so the Cuban takes out one of the finest havana cigars, takes one puff and throws it off the train and says 'theres plenty more of those where i come from'.
Again everyone is rather impressed so the Englishman stands up and throws the Pakistani off the train.....

I've heard that Apple has scrapped their plans for the new children's-oriented iPod after realizing that iTouch Kids is not a good product name.

The teacher asked little Johnny to use the word " definitely " in a sentence
Little Johnny replies, "Teacher, do farts have lumps in them?
The Teacher says, "Of course not Johnny,
To which Johnny replies, "Then I have definitely s**t my pants".

I was having as meal in a chinese restaurant, and didn't much like the chicken I'd been served, so I called the waiter over and said, "this chicken is rubbery", to which he replied, Ah fan you velly mush!!

A man walks into a bar with his pet monkey. He orders a drink, and while he's drinking, the monkey jumps all over the place, eating everything behind the bar. Then the monkey jumps on to the pool table and swallows a pool ball.
The barman screams at the man, "Your monkey just ate the cue ball off my pool table -- whole!"
"Sorry," replied the man. "He eats everything in sight, the little bastard. I'll pay for everything."
The man finishes his drink, pays and leaves.

Two weeks later, he's in the bar with his pet monkey, again. He orders a drink, and the monkey starts running around the bar. The monkey finds a maraschino cherry on the bar. He grabs it, sticks it up his arse, pulls it out and eats it.

The barman is disgusted. "Did you see what your monkey just did ?" he asks.
"Yeah," replies the man. "He still eats everything in sight, but ever since he swallowed that cue ball, he measures everything first."

hehe, i told you they were silly!

Drat i lost my photos of Capri

It seems inbetween two hard drives carking it, i lost my photos of Capri and Singapore, drat, drat double drat!!!
But apparently they should be recoverable somehow, i just need a computer geek to search and find them. So in their absence i have found some off the net to share with you of this tiny island off Sorrento Italy, with its tiny beaches, we had a laugh when the beach was pointed out to us, we both said "where? there's no beach!" But its still a gorgeous place we had a lovely boat ride around half of it and walked over from one side to another, geeting a glimpse through gates of the residences and resorts along the way.

Main port, where the ferries arrive, its so pretty

On the other side of the island some lovely resorts tucked into coves

The grottos were amazing, the water so clear, and the boat we did our trip on was exactly like this one,
It is a beautiful little island, we were fortunate it wasnt too crowded and found a great local place to eat, some locals were a bit offhand, and had the fed up with tourists look! The boat tour operator was our "guide" who was very helpful to us.

I dont quite know where the last couple of weeks went!

Summer has hit, its hot and humid even though its still only spring officially!
The flowers are bloomin' and the grass is growin'!

We have had the Noosa Triathalon come and go, a few casualties due to our tropical weather that the southerners are not used to, silly buggers run themselves dry, overheat and fall over unconscious!
Spring racing in Melbourne in full swing, the finish had us all guessing for a few minutes as to who actually won and SJP has graced our shores and presented the cup for oaks day, she's looking a bit thin and rakey,  a bit like the race contenders! equine that is!

But it is great weather for swimming so that's what im going to do to try to stop my body crumbling before my eyes!

fnsi

Thanks again Heidi and Crafty vegas mom for the wonderful link to fnsi its a great place to check out the gorgeous stuff created around the world.
I have to admit i did my sewing on saturday, but thats still friday in usa, so i guess it still counts? Anyway i was going great guns until i plopped my squares together, and wondered why they looked a bit odd, and then realised i had sewed the ends of my stars the wrong way around. On every single square. Groan... so now i have unpicked them again and redoing them. All thirteen of them. At least i should get the other thirteen right !

Hope you all had a fun productive night!

wish upon a star

So what's in a name ? I am hooking up on this little link at Dawns blog, As sweet as cinnamon she is having a giveaway so come and join in!
I guess everyone can remember the walt disney movie where pinoccio has a wish to be a real boy, it seems most of us have looked up into the sky and made a little wish, sometimes they come true if you believe hard enough, i think being a bit of a dreamer helps!

The only problem i had when naming the blog was that i liked the url also, which i probably should have kept the same, but once started it seemed too hard to change!

There are loads of things i would love to do in this lifetime, so i guess this blog is a bit of a bucket list in some ways, i have been fortunate enough to travel to the places i really wanted to see before i got too old and crumbly!

And i have taken up a hobby in quilting which i first started many years ago, and started looking at what other crafty things were out there in the www, so this blog seemed like the way to share ideas. It doesnt matter how many followers there are, or how styled the photos are, its the substance behind that counts, and there are plenty of amazingly talented beings to admire!
Thanks for stopping by and taking a little look into my world!
